Jack Red reviews Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Hi everyone now here's a great game from my child hood that I love so much: Zombies Ate My Neighbors on the Sega Genesis and SNES. You play as Zeke or Julie as you fight your way through all kind of monsters such as Zombies, Vampires, Werewolves and many more while rescuing people in each level including hidden ones. Purple tentacle from Maniac Mansion 2 appears in one of those levels while another based on Lucasarts's office.

The game starts out easy then the difficulty slowly goes up with the last couple of levels being really diffilcult. You have three lives with no continues so if you lose all of the victims then it's game over. You can use passwords, however unlike games with the feature it makes the game even harder to beat. Using the passwords for the later parts of the game gives you one person to rescue. This can be a problem because some levels start off with an enemy close by to that lone victim so you better hurry up.

The music has got to be one of the most inspiring soundtracks from my child hood. I am actually surprised that they made songs inspired by cla$$ic horror movies with some modern ones that I grew up watching. Every level never fails with the music choice since it's right on point making this one of the best horror games of all time.

You get many weapons including Squirt Gun, Bazooka, Silver Ware, Foot Ball, Lawn Mower with many more to go nuts with. If you don't have enough keys then you can blast your way through. Lawn Mower usually helps getting through mutant plant stuff over the ground. It does have a strict shooting system so you might not hit an enemy when you think it did.

You also get items that may help you out as you play through such an awesome game. The first aid kit really helps in this game since it does heal a good amount of health. Paradora's box sometimes help you out when the enemies get to close for comfort. Monster potion really help because if you don't have keys or any Bazooka ammo then this is the next best thing to help get through the levels.

The bosses are very well thought out such as a Giant Baby, Martian Mothership, Snakenoids etc... I hated the Giant Baby so much because he can kill you so damn fast if you're not careful. Snakenoids which are based on Graboids from Tremors series are tricky to kill without losing a life since you need them to come out. Martian Spaceships can only be hurt by throwing soda cans because none of the other weapons can reach it. I must bring up Dr. Tongue, who you must face with the second one, being two forms though you must be very skilled to get that far in the game.

I am very happy to do this review because this still stands as one of my personal favorite games.
