Hi everyone this is Jack Red, I did an bad video on this topic which I apologize for so to make up for it I'm going to remake it as an blog entry.
I love the games and I wouldn't mine reviewing every single Resident Evil movie ever made.
Let's start with Resident Evil released in 2002 the same year as the remake and the prequel hit the Game Cube.
I was surprised how good this was considering it was directed by the same guy who directed the first Mortal Kombat movie.
It follows the game pretty close though with some major changes it did piss a lot of people off.
For example why wasn't there any S.T.A.R.S. member from the game present in the movie.
S.T.A.R.S. enters the Mansion while running into Alice, Spence and Matt before entering The Hive.
In the game it was S.T.A.R.S. were just Police Officers with little to no experience on how to handle these solutions.
S.T.A.R.S. were Swat that most of all were killed in the first two movies with Nemesis killing the most.
S.T.A.R.S. in the games stands for Special Tactics and Rescue Service however in the novels and movies it stands for Special Tactics and Rescue Squad.
It is quite easy to get confuse which one last S word actually brings unless you do some looking around like I did.
I really like the music in the movie as it's pretty good for my taste since I'm an fan of Rock.
The game has an ton of enemies to pick from however only Zombies, Cerberuses and Licker appears in the movie.
Resident Evil 2 was the first game of the series to feature Lickers though there does exist Super Lickers which takes more ammo to kill.
The Licker actually mutates into an Super Licker with an nice way to die
In the games only an handful of times you get to save someone who is infected before it's too late.
Most of the movie takes place below the entire city rather than the Mansion like the game or George A. Romero's original script.
I like how they did the Zombies I though it was pretty good compared to more recent Zombies movies such as Day of the Dead remake which sucks ass.
It's hard to believe that William Birkin actually appears in the movie at the end though the actor couldn't come back so he was replaced by Dr. Sam Isaacs.
The laser part of the movie actually got put in Resident Evil 4 though it didn't feature the unfamiliar laser pattern that will kill anything.
The Red Queen in this movie does become an part of the games through Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.
There was an scenario in Resident Evil: Outbreak called The Hive which was an Hospital rather than an Umbrella Underground Laboratory.
In conclusion it's an good movie with some changes that started pissing off fans but Capcom did approve of it.
Next up is Resident Evil: Apocalypse in 2004 which is directly based on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis now in my opinion it was the worst for many reasons.
I won't compare Resident Evil 2 since it's wasn't based on despite the fact that happened very close with 3: Nemesis.
I will say I like the references to the game including Alice dropping her gun and quickly grabbing it to shoot those soldiers.
The Nemesis appears though he doesn't use his tentacles instead you get to see him use an Gatling Gun.
Sure it makes him look more bad ass but considering it's based on an popular game it will upset many fans.
He still has his rocket launcher that was originally from Resident Evil 2 later brought back in 3: Nemesis.
You still have Zombies, Cerberuses and Lickers however this time rather than just being under the Mansion they're everywhere.
I also like the action scenes such as Alice running from The Nemesis was awesome yet not as good as the game it's based on.
Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira appear in the movie too with an altered version of Nicholai named Nicholas who I like a lot.
Nicholai in the game was such an asshole in fact he kills other Umbrella soldiers and even tries killing you.
The movie didn't do the game justice and is the worst out of the four movies created for the fans by Hollywood.
I really wanted to review Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007 so bad that I could hardly wait any longer to do it.
Unlike the first two movies this one isn't directly based an game that turns out to be an good movie.
I like the music selection in this one especially the opening with the survivors in an few vehicles.
Claire Redfield appears as the leader of those survivors however she was more serious than how she is in the games.
Albert Wesker finally appears in an Resident Evil movie though they fucked him up good.
He was the CEO of Umbrella rather than being one of it's top employee before his betrayal.
He seem like an normal human with the hair not even looking like the hair at all it stands as one of the worst changes they ever done.
I did like Wesker wearing all black with his infamous sunglasses like some of the games now that I do approve it however everything else about him is fucked.
The gore in this one was pretty damn good like in the opening an Zombie got hit by spike attached to all the wheels.
You still have Zombies with Super Zombies which isn't to be confused with the rare ones in the first couple of games and Crimson Heads.
There wasn't any Cerberuses which is fine since they gave us The Crows instead and an new kind of Tyrant.
Alice becomes more super human in this one even being the top killing machine of the movie.
She got cloned with a lot of them killed because they wanted one as good as the original to make an cure from her blood.
Carlos's death is still one of my favorite moments of the movies because I didn't expect it to be in it yet it's funny.
Jill sadly wasn't in the movie due to the Actress had to do another movie around the time of the movie.
It's an damn good movie that I will recommend to horror fans however to the ones who love the games I can't say I would recommend it.
I do promise that in the near future that I will review Resident Evil: Afterlife that's going to end the series.
I wanted to also review Resident Evil: Degeneration in 2008 because it's an Resident Evil movie made by the creators.
It has many references to Resident Evil 2 even recreating some classic moments such as how Leon met Claire or someone becoming an G-Mutant.
It happened an year after Resident Evil 4 which was such an good game now I like for the movie it goes back to the Zombies.
It isn't live action like the other movies it's CGI like the cutscenes in the games with good voice acting.
Finally they made an movie that connects to the games and shows another G-Mutant in action.
According to the film makers of the film it's Resident Evil 4.5 since it brings up TriCell which later comes back in Resident Evil 5.
The Airport gets Zombies everywhere with Claire being trapped inside so an Swat Team had to go with the help of an Government Agent Leon.
I like how the movie reminds you of the games before they made Resident Evil 4 that changed everything.
I know some would prefer the other Resident Evil movies but how could you go wrong with one being made by the guys behind the games.
I consider it an good movie as it feels like watching Resident Evil cut scenes made into an movie.
Spoiler: In an few days I will do an review on the original script by George A. Romero.
So I am Jack Red and I thank you for reading my blog.
